Our Mission

Rise Sugarworks is a family-owned and operated business located in the maple heart of Vermont. We take pride in producing the absolute finest and most distinctive maple syrup through our wood-fired, flavor-crafted, single-run, single-forest, and certified organic process. Our mission is to enjoy every aspect of the syrup-making process while providing our customers with the best possible product.

Certified Organic

Rise Sugarworks is proud to be a certified organic producer of maple syrup. Our certification requires us to adhere to stringent sustainable forest management practices that exceed the standards for non-organic producers. This includes limiting the minimum size of trees that can be tapped, the number of taps per tree, and avoiding the use of pesticides on the trees. Moreover, our organic certification mandates the use of natural defoamers such as safflower oil and citric acid instead of chemical cleaners and defoamers used in conventional operations. Overall, our organic certification ensures healthier trees and a more diverse forest, which allows us to produce the finest and most distinctive maple syrup available.

Single - Forest Values

While many large and small-scale maple syrup producers blend their syrup from several different forests to achieve consistency in taste and color, this practice can reduce the unique characteristics of each maple tree stand. At Rise Sugarworks, we believe that the distinctive combination of soils, water, ledge, and exposure of each tree is what gives maple syrup its full flavor. We align with the growing demand for unblended, single-source food products and produce our syrup in this manner to preserve its unique taste and characteristics.

Single - Run

Maple syrup has a unique taste influenced by the sugarbush location, weather patterns, and harvesting & boiling techniques. At Rise Sugarworks, we believe in preserving the distinctive taste of our syrup by producing it in a single-run manner. Unlike other producers who blend different sap runs and grades, we keep each day's unique characteristics and nuances individually barreled and carefully profiled. This allows us to offer our customers a tasting experience highlighting the full range of flavors our syrup offers. Our single-run flavors are perfect for food professionals and consumers who appreciate distinctive and unique taste profiles. We only bottle the season's best and "select" product, so you can be sure you're getting the highest quality syrup.

WOOD FIRED

Wood-fired syrup is recognized to have a unique and superior taste compared to other sap evaporation fuel methods. The secret behind its deliciousness is the caramelization that occurs due to varying flame temperatures. At Rise Sugarworks, we take pride in delivering top-notch flavor quality while valuing the full-circle tree-based synergy with the forest product obtained from using wood fire. We are committed to producing our syrup using wood fire to ensure every drop provides a distinct and delightful taste.

Flavor Forward

Not all maple syrup is created equal. Many large producers use high-concentration reverse osmosis evaporators and low front/flue pan ratios, or even steam evaporation, to save time and money. However, while these methods are popular, they tend to reduce the caramelization process that intensifies the unique, rich flavor of maple syrup that makes it taste so good. We've done extensive research and experimentation to balance traditional flavor with modern technology, combining the art and science of maple syrup production. We believe that the intensity and uniqueness of our syrup's flavor reflect our commitment to this balance.
